All of my projects begin with similar questions:
At a farmer’s market or ethnic grocery; “what can I do with the ingredients I buy here?”
At an ethnic restaurant; “What can I order if I eat here?”
And “how can I make what I just ate in that restaurant at home?”
The answers have become my books; Farms and Foods of the Garden State, Cucina Piemontese, and A World of Dumplings. My current projects include British cooking, the reach of the tomato, and suburban and small town ethnic communities.
